Rooted in Spirit: My Story

IMG-20240928-WA0002.jpg

Before the summer of 2019, I had never been interested in taking up art or in painting but I suddenly found myself wanting to paint! This urge seemed to come out of nowhere but, after having had several, what I can only describe as spiritual experiences since 2018, I realised where the voice in my head and the idea was probably coming from. I felt compelled to try It!

I'd seen some videos of artists doing 'fluid art' also known as 'acrylic pouring' and it fascinated and inspired me. It was quite mesmerising to see the paint and water mixture being poured onto a canvas and to watch it flowing with almost a 'life of its own' and then seeing the creations that resulted. So I went ahead and got all the resources and had a go. I ended up getting into the flow, enjoying it and creating and selling many canvases. However, in 2021 I started noticing Watercolour and again, had a go! After a couple of months of trying and making many mistakes, I got frustrated and struggled. I wanted to give up.

However, that voice in my head was not having it! It was telling me to keep trying, so I did. I persevered and I had my breakthrough and mastered what I had thought impossible. I soon found I was creating to a level where I could begin to sell my work and now, in October 2024, I am very pleased to be launching my website and am hoping to reach a much wider audience with my art.

Over the last three years I have met and had conversations with many people at art exhibitions or art fairs who are either struggling or have in the past struggled with watercolour, and who really want to master it. Based on my own struggles and experiences, I always urge them to start it again or to persevere with it because it really is possible to achieve and it was, for me, such a great feeling when I finally did.

So, if you find yourself being told by that voice in your head to try something new or to keep going at something, try to listen to it, persevere and push forward until you have your own personal breakthrough, it's so worth the wait. I believe that, after trying my hand at a few crafty things over the years, I have now found what it is I'm meant to do, my purpose, and for this opportunity I am very  grateful and feel truly blessed.

The Different Art I Create

(01)

Watercolour

My favourite style of painting is with watercolour because it allows me to merge fluidity with texture in a way that's both delicate and bold. The soft, transparent layers of watercolours give a luminous, ethereal quality, while the card adds a subtle depth and texture that enhances the overall effect. This combination creates a sense of movement and emotion in my work that I find endlessly inspiring, offering a balance between control and spontaneity that resonates with my artistic vision.

Printed Cards

In addition to painting, I’ve ventured into the world of prints, transforming my artwork into beautifully crafted greeting cards. This card collection, featuring reproductions of my original pieces, offers a personal touch to everyday moments and special occasions. By doing this, I hope to make my art accessible to a broader audience, offering a way for people to connect with the emotion and beauty in my work. The cards are blank inside, giving space for personal messages, and each comes with its own envelope, making them perfect for a variety of occasions.

Hand Painted Cards

My hand-painted cards are especially close to my heart, as each one is a unique, original artwork in itself. These cards are carefully crafted, allowing me to bring the same attention to detail and emotion into a smaller, more intimate form. They are ideal for personal connections, as they combine the beauty of hand-painted art with the thoughtfulness of a handwritten message. Each card is blank inside and comes with an envelope, making them perfect for any occasion where a personal touch is desired. This collection has allowed me to share my art in a more tangible and accessible way, blending creativity with connection.

Book Marks

Each bookmark I create is meticulously crafted, allowing me to channel my creativity into a compact, practical format. These bookmarks are not just placeholders for books but tiny, unique works of art that bring beauty and inspiration to everyday moments. Every piece is hand-painted, making each one distinct and personal, much like my larger creations.

These bookmarks serve as a way for readers and art lovers to carry a bit of artistic expression with them in their daily lives, transforming a simple object into something meaningful and visually captivating. Just like my hand-painted cards, the bookmarks reflect my dedication to detail, creativity, and the desire to make art accessible in small, thoughtful ways.
